ABOUT THE PSALM NOTES
These notes were written over a period of time, including a year spent at rabbinical school. The sources I used reflect my immersion in Jewish texts, and refer to a number of commentaries, often medieval, but also some that are more modern. These commentaries are not meant to be understood as definitive, but rather as representing ideas that helped inform or contextualize my own. Sometimes I offer them as understandings that I did not ultimately embrace, but nevertheless thought worthy of mention. I recognize, too, that there are extensive and wonderful Christian writings on the psalms. They simply did not form a central part of my study during the time I was translating. I also make periodic reference to BDB, which stands for Brown, Driver and Briggs, a canonical biblical Hebrew dictionary. For references to particular commentators, one can find many links as well as a general overview at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jewish_commentaries_on_the_Bible.
